Austin City Limits Festival

journal-w5-9-28-09 Week 5: 9/28/09 – At the end of this week was the Austin City Limits Music Festival, or ACL for those who follow this event.  This is the last one I will be attending for a while and we enjoyed ourselves, despite the rain.  There isn’t really a way to do justice to the number of people that attend.  It is quite a river of people, moving this way and that between stages.  But in classic Austin style, there are folks of all ages and all walks of life.  The highlight for us was seeing the Dave Matthews Band, but there were so many others that were great (Greencards, Levon Helm Band, Decemberists, Bassnectar, Andrew Bird, Them Crooked Vultures…)

I started with the greens because they’ve done so much work on the grass and it was truly wonderful, at least Friday before it rained.  Kicking off the sandals and stretching my toes out in the grass was so relaxing.  The sky is meant to be grey because it was a rainy weekend.  The mud was something else.   The best way I knew to represent the event was a schmattering of people, a stage with performer, and music drifting out on the air.
