Week 3: 9/14/09 – This was a busy week with some drama with my daughter earlier in the week and a two-day art quilting workshop on Thursday and Friday. I’ll write another article on the workshop (which was spectacular) and post a photo of my piece once I’ve quilted it. Since I was excited all week about the workshop I wanted to represent that in my journal quilt, though I wanted to put something together quickly to make my self-imposed deadline and free up the rest of the evening to sew.
We were asked to pick three colors for the workshop that we used in different values. Immediately I thought that I would represent the colors I used – violet, mossy green and coral orange. When I found the piece of black I wanted to use it, and thought the discharged swirly design was an apt symbol of my whirlwind week. I can’t believe it is already Saturday.
